Join Our Team
Bellwether Education Partners is a national nonprofit focused on dramatically changing education and life outcomes for underserved children. We do this by helping education organizations accelerate their impact and by working to improve policy and practice.
Our work is national in scope. Although we maintain an office in Washington, D.C. and smaller offices elsewhere, many of our professionals work where they have built their lives, thereby enabling Bellwether to hire the best person for each role, regardless of geography. We are always working to build an organization whose staff share a mix of identities and experiences similar to those of the students, clients, and communities we serve.
Bellwether boasts high employee retention and referrals, and — according to Washingtonian magazine — we're one of Washington D.C.'s 50 Great Places to Work. We're intentional about building an inclusive culture where staff feel challenged, engaged, and recognized for their accomplishments.
Diversity & Inclusion
Bellwether is building a thriving, diverse, and sustainable workplace that both generates deep impact for students as well as more durable relationships with the communities that we serve. We believe that our team members’ backgrounds, experiences, and passion for our mission sets Bellwether apart. We actively seek and hire talent with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We support our team through opportunities to build relationships based on shared experiences, through a wide range of affinity groups, while encouraging communication and collaboration across lines of difference to maintain an environment where divergent ideas and perspectives are freely expressed. We celebrate each person’s inherent worth and actively seek to understand the perspectives and experiences of all of our team members. By doing so, we not only foster a diverse team and inclusive culture, we also increase our collective ability to deliver thoughtful, relevant solutions and analyses for our clients and the field.
We value many forms of diversity and believe the disadvantages experienced by those from historically marginalized races, ethnicities, and income levels play an especially acute role in the education sector and consequently our work. Our broad approach to diversity also includes economic background, age, disability, gender, marital status, national origin, political affiliation, religion, geographic background, sexual orientation, gender identity, first-in-family college going, and veteran status. We are an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply.
Flexible and Fun Organizational Culture
Bellwether takes our mission of serving educators, students, organizations, and communities seriously. But we try not to take ourselves as individuals quite so seriously. We do challenging work, and we know how to have fun.
Bellwether strives to make the work rewarding and sustainable so we can find harmony between demanding jobs and full personal lives. We are proud that our team has poets, hikers, food bloggers, activists, teachers, karate black belts, church leaders, cyclists, bakers, and much more. Our flexible work environment allows many of our team members to work where they like and, often, when they like. This allows us to operate in ways that feel most productive to us and do more of what we love doing on our own time.
These qualities are clear in the core values that guide our work and reflect what is truly important to us as an organization.
Bellwether is simply a great place to work — evidenced by our low turnover. The most common reason people leave Bellwether is to return to graduate or professional school.
Our current open positions are listed above.
We accept internship applications on a seasonal basis. If no openings are listed, we're currently not accepting applications. Please check back!
